More widgets and a new feed
Tonight we put out two more widgets that are available for Dashboard. These widgets are "Just Added" and "Widget Tracker 2000".
The "Just Added" widget will allow you to go through all the films that have been entered into the database ordered by the newest ones first. You can use this widget to keep on top of what happened as far as new films being entered in since the last time you were logged on.
The "Widget Tracker 2000" widget will do exactly as it's name says it will. Adding this widget to your Dashboard will allow you to see the two newest widgets and their descriptions. It will also allow you to add it to your Dashboard entirely from that widget. Widgets adding widgets...sexy.
And for those that really, really like staying on top of things, I've created the obligatory RSS feed for widgets. This feed will update each time a new widget gets added onto the site. If you like that sort of thing, you can find it here.
Expect more widgets to come shortly as we're able to crank them out at a pretty fast pace.
Widget Suggestions
We're currently working on finishing up Calendar (also adding a couple new features) and tweaking Dashboard.
We'd really appreciate some suggestions for Widgets or anything else, what do you want to see on the Dashboard and Calendar?
If you have a suggestion, just leave it in the comments, or you can e-mail me at jason@iheartmovies.org
Welcome to Dashboard…
For those who've been waiting (and those who haven't), we've rolled out the new Dashboard tonight. As mentioned in this article, Dashboard is a completely customizable user access point for the entire site. Essentially, in smaller terms, Dashboard is the shizzle.
We've started Dashboard out with six widgets. Each widget has it own features and capabilities. As time moves on, we'll continue to add more and more widgets to accomplish more and more tasks. To read up on the widgets we've released, you'll want to go here.
The first time you visit your Dashboard (which will either be the next time you log in or when you click "Dashboard" from your navigation bar), you should see a pop-up guide which will go over some of the basic features of Dashboard. This guide should be all you need to start using the Dashboard.
If you should happen to stumble and have some troubles with the Dashboard or you and the Dashboard are simply not getting along and you're encountering some errors. Please let us know. We'd also appreciate any and all feedback on Dashboard. As usual, comments to this blog are welcome for any problems or suggestions as well.
The summer’s most blockbustery blockbuster
With almost 2/3 of the summer completed, we've seen almost all of the summer blockbusters that are going to be out. We've watch cars turn into robots, a rat with culinary talents and our favorite broomstick riding wizard return to the big screen. So with that in mind, I'd like to open a discussion of your favorite movies of the summer. What film(s) do you think really succeeded and maybe what do you think the largest flop was? Post your views as comments to this post.
