IHM on Twitter :@gmanreviews Yeah, the rest of the world got that one much sooner than us. It's snuck around here and there though here. So not all bad.

The new year has come and gone. With that, we have some great new stuff rolling out this month. Stay tuned ;)

We’ve gotten a few steps completed on our new collection and user interface for it. We’re looking for some people to beta test some of the features and to let us know what you think of the updates. If this is your thing or you just want to preview the new changes, email us at beta@iheartmovies.org.

Tonight we found a bug in our user settings that was causing quite a few people headaches. Basically, each user had some unwanted data attached to their account. So to fix the problem globally for all users, we were forced to delete records to make sure each user only had one record.

So, to quickly explain words above…your settings may have been lost during the deletion of the duplicate records. Please check your settings and make sure they are set to what you’d like them to be. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused you. If you’d like to beat a teddy bear effigy of us, feel free.

If you need assistance at all with getting your settings back to normal or you find a bug or problem with them, please contact us.

Lately the talk around the IHM office (which is in reality not an office but just an aim conversation window), the talk has been where to move next or what to do now. We’ve got tons and tons of ideas in our heads that we’d like to see come to fruition, but we really don’t know if those will be what would make you guys happy. We could dole out feature after feature, but without any sort of feedback or idea of what you all would be interested in, we’d make no real progress on the site.

So, if you couldn’t guess from my intro in this post, that’s what this post and a new IHM poll are going to do. By the time this post is up, the poll should be on all of your dashboards.

Of the many ideas we have in our heads, we narrowed it down to the top things we wanted to create or redo about the site and put them into general categories. These categories are what you’ll be voting on via the poll or commenting and giving suggestions on through the blog. Hopefully through both mediums we can get a better feel for how to serve you best next. Here are the categories we’re working with now:

Current features fixed and upgraded
- We know some of our features are lacking or could be redone to make them more efficient to you all. We’ve heard many suggestions for changes to be implemented into the collection pages or on the quick search. We’ve heard complaints of how things aren’t working well or don’t work like you would want them to in your head. This category, if chosen would cover us revisiting those complaints and making our changes to those for more satisfication.

New features for more data
- We know we don’t have as much data on every title as we could. Let alone, all the titles we could or should have. This category, if chosen would cover the creation of features that would allow the users as a whole to edit the information in our databases. We don’t have your language? No trailer for the movie you want to see? Then add it.

New social features
- We know part of what we are is a social network based around the films and tv shows themselves. Features like groups and lists that would allow you to form as mini communities around things you like or enjoy have been mentioned as something we’d like to create. Choosing this category would steer us more in creating features that fit this bill better with an aim at socializing the site more.

More languages offered
- We know all of our site is in English and yet we have a pretty large international user base. This category would have us focus more on implementing ways to make the site less English based and allow it to be open to more languages as the user bases for each of those grow.

So now, you have four ideas of four different directions we’d like to approach. We’ve given basic overviews of each and have tons of ideas for each floating in our heads. All we need are you guys to point us in the direction that you’d like the most.

If you’ve got questions, comments or concerns about the ideas we’ve presented. Please shoot us some feedback either via the blog, our emails or even IHM messages/comments. We’ve got our ears wide open with anticipation to see what you all choose.
